Whether you’re in the marketing team, managing content, or leading digital strategy, the CMS platform your site runs on isn’t just a technical detail; it shapes how fast you can publish, how easily you manage content, how secure your site is, and how future-ready your business becomes.

This month, Umbraco has been busy: a new long-term support version is on the horizon, prices have been updated, and two of our own packages were featured in the official Umbraco community digest. Here’s your quick, plain-English summary of what’s happening and what it means for you.

Umbraco 17: The next big release

Launch date: November 2025
Support: Long-Term Support (LTS) through 2028

This release focuses on future-proofing, speed, and stability, especially for organisations looking to reduce upgrade frequency and improve editor experience.

What’s new:

  • Built on modern Web Components and .NET 8 for faster, more flexible performance.

  • A refreshed back-office interface offering smoother workflows for editors.

  • A longer support cycle, with updates and security coverage until around 2028.

Read more in this preview of Umbraco 15–17 LTS or view the official LTS roadmap.

If you’re running an older version (especially pre-v13), now’s the perfect time to plan your move.

If you’re still on v13 or below, you’ll want to start planning your move. To help, we’ve launched the Umbraco v17 Upgrade Readiness Audit, a quick way to check how prepared your site is for v17, what dependencies need attention, and how to minimise downtime.

And if you’re already on one of our managed services plans, you’re all set. Upgrades like v17 are automatically handled as part of your plan.

Price and plan changes for 2025

Umbraco has announced its annual price update for 2025. The changes are small but worth noting if you’re budgeting for hosting or planning to scale your setup:

  • Starter Plan: €42 / month (↑ from €40)

  • Standard Plan: €268 / month (↑ from €250)

  • Professional Plan: €700 / month (↑ from €650)

Licences for Forms, Workflow, and Support Plans also saw small increases. These reflect continued improvements to cloud infrastructure and the inclusion of more advanced tools across the ecosystem.

Our packages featured in the Umbraco Weekly Digest

We’re proud to share that two packages built by our Umbraco experts were highlighted in the latest Umbraco Weekly Digest — a great nod to our team’s ongoing contributions to the community:

  • CountThings – Gives a quick overview of your content, media, users, and forms right in the back office. Ideal for audits, governance, and understanding how your site grows over time.

  • MultiDomainEmail & Forms – Simplifies multi-domain form handling, letting you set up domain-specific SMTP and reCAPTCHA configurations. Perfect for organisations managing multiple brands or regions.

We’ll be publishing a deeper dive into these tools soon, showing how they can make managing and monitoring large Umbraco sites easier for both developers and editors.

Other ecosystem highlights

A few more things happened across the Umbraco community this month:

  • Version 16.3 was released, improving performance and stability.

  • Deploy 13.4.3 fixed permission-related issues for nested content.

  • Engage 16.0.1 delivered usability updates for segmentation and audience management.

  • The community’s Pulse Check Report shared new insights into platform growth and engagement.

  • Announcements were made for Umbraco In The City (Manchester) and a call for speakers for Umbraco Spark 2026.

You can keep up with all future releases in the official Versioning and Release Cadence guide and read the Version-Specific Upgrade Guide for step-by-step help.

What this means for you

If you’re a Digital Wonderlab managed-service client, you’re already covered — your upgrade plan keeps your site secure and up to date without lifting a finger.

If you manage your own site, here’s your action list:

  1. Run the v17 Upgrade Readiness Audit to understand next steps.

  2. Check your Umbraco version and hosting plan.

  3. Review budget implications of 2025 pricing.

  4. Assess plugin compatibility ahead of v17.
