The British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) is a charity that promotes human rights. They work with people, community groups, and organisations with public power. Their goal is to help these groups live up to their duties using human rights approaches.
The charity's main aim is to use the Human Rights Act to bring about positive social change.
The brief
The charity was keen to create a new website to coincide with Human Rights Day. As an important date in the calendar and to encourage web traffic, it was key that a new site was built ahead of the deadline to provide clear and easy access to important information.
The charity was experiencing a lot of enquiries from users who could not find the information they needed online. As a small charity this became an increasing drain on resources. Simplifying content, improving the interface, and enhancing the user experience were important criteria for the changes made.

The solution
Through user testing, Digital Wonderlab was able to fully understand the user journey and gain important insights into the needs and wants of the website visitors. This allowed the team to create a functional and attractive new site, taking the wealth of information available and making it easily accessible.

The outcome
On launch, the new site saw a 24-fold increase in users on Human Rights Day. Where there was previously a huge amount of disparate information that was difficult to find, the new site made resources readily accessible and easy to find, resulting in a reduction of time-consuming enquiries to the charity.
