Simon Allen

Director of AI Solutions

Simon Allen has spent over two decades working with people who are the most excluded and underserved in our society and it’s that journey that shapes everything Digital Wonderlab AI does today. He started as a support worker working with people with a Learning Disability, worked in a national charity developing new services for people on the Autism Spectrum, and went on to become CEO of Age UK Bath & North East Somerset. Along the way, he served as Chair of the Health & Wellbeing Board, Safeguarding Adults Lead, elected Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, and practised as a frontline social worker supporting people home after a hospital stay. He didn’t arrive at AI through tech; he arrived at it through people.

That lived experience now drives the AI practice of Digital Wonderlab built specifically for charities, social enterprises, and purpose-driven organisations. Delivering solutions grounded in real operational needs — from clinical audit automation in care settings to RAG-based information tools for health charities. His approach is always values-first always. He’s spoken internationally, and has contributed to academic publications.

Simon is also a songwriter; a creative practice that shapes the rhythm and cadence of everything he writes. He’s based in Radstock, UK, and operates on a simple principle: technology should buy back human attention, making small things easy so people can focus on what matters most.
